Margaret 'Beth' Phelps-Hodges Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Ms. Phelps-Hodges attributes her success to the gratitude she receives from her former students
ALBUQUERQUE, NM, October 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret 'Beth' Phelps-Hodges, Teacher at New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, and Certified Consultant at Scentsy, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education and consulting.
With 10 years of professional experience, Ms. Phelps-Hodges attributes her success to the gratitude she receives from her former students. Her responsibilities at New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department include teaching business classes including computers and career development programs to incarcerated juveniles from ages 13 to 21, and coordinating the WAGES program and assisting juveniles to find gainful employment by developing their vocational and social skills. She also follows up with program participants to record statistics, and collaborates with the redesign committee members of the program to develop lessons.
As a certified consultant at Scentsy, Ms. Phelps-Hodges sells decorative scented warmers and candles. She previously worked as a secretary in the records department of a juvenile prison system, where she developed an interest to teach incarcerated juveniles and assist them in a positive direction.
Ms. Phelps-Hodges earned her Master's Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is a member of the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education and two fraternal organizations: Delta Pi Epsilon and Pi Omega Pi. She received the IBEA Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award in 2002, SIU Workforce Education & Development Excellence Award on April 9, 2000, the SIU Scholastic Honors on the same date and the Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel Award of Special Recognition on October 16, 1999.
