Sally A. Drinkhouse sells pieces that she acquires on trips all over the world
WEST MONROE, LA, September 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Sally A. Drinkhouse, Owner of Something Special Antiques I & II, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in antique retail sales.
Prompted by a love of antiques and other fine things, Sally A. Drinkhouse left a career as a certified surgical technician and took a giant leap of faith into the retail industry. She recently celebrated her 13th year in business as the head of Something Special Antiques. Noted for her knowledge of antiques, she sells exquisite pieces that she acquires on trips all over the world; together with her daughter Eva, she has traveled to such fascinating locales as Paris, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Cairo, Milan, Saigon and New Delhi. A true lover of beauty, Ms. Drinkhouse has also parlayed her artistic gifts into the construction of Our Lady of Peace Prayer Chapel, a nondenominational place of worship, meditation and prayer that is both a gift to her mother and a tribute to her late husband Michael Drinkhouse, a New York City restaurateur and art connoisseur.
A versatile entrepreneur, Ms. Drinkhouse has enjoyed success in the beauty and wellness industry as well. She owns and operates Maison Rêve, a full-service salon and spa located in the same building as her antique store, and established Amate Spa at Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas, a resort, hotel and museum near Cuernavaca, Mexico where she is a partner. She also creates her own jewelry and consults on alternative medicine and the energy of crystals and precious stones. Widely respected for her proven expertise in investment and business development, Ms. Drinkhouse has been honored by Cambridge Who's Who as a Professional of the Year in Antique Retail Sales, an Entrepreneur of the Year in Salon Management, and a Professional of the Year in Spa Services.
Diligence and a genuine love of people have been the keys to Ms. Drinkhouse's multiple successes. This passion for living is also a trait much-prized by her loved ones. Daughter and constant travel partner Eva, who was a National Merit Scholar and a current New York University undergraduate majoring in anthropology and environmental science, even wrote about her in a school essay: "Her compassion and energy exalt the human race and give faith to people who doubt positive thinking in a negative world." Ms. Drinkhouse looks forward to sharing her colorful life through her autobiography, still in the works, entitled "My Life is a Laugh."
Also active in cultural and philanthropic endeavors, Ms. Drinkhouse sits on the board of the Strauss Theatre Center, is a member of the Millionaire Founders Club for the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation, and volunteers actively with The Royal Dames of Cancer Research. She was honored with a Bart Award for Appreciation of the Arts in 2004.
